Secure Storage

If you find yourself in a situation where you have more coffee beans than you can possibly grind and brew you’ll want to store the surplus correctly. A big part of storing beans is their container: An airtight canister or resealable bag.

The next part of storage is temperature: A freezer

A sealed container of beans in the freezer can last up to a year. Once you’ve exhausted your initial supply of beans however you’ll want to take the new beans out of the freezer up to 30 minutes before brewing. DO NOT OPEN the container until the beans have reached room temperature.

Why do we need to wait till the beans are at room temperature? The cold beans will cause the water in the air to condense on them and accelerate the deterioration of the flavor!
